A PORTRAIT OF HUMANITY
BY LIOR SPERANDEO
PEOPLE OF is an independent project that gives a voice to the voiceless
around the world using photography, film, and storytelling.
''It all started in April 2015, after the earthquake in Nepal.
I arrived at the shattered city of Katmandu hours after the earthquake to follow a disaster relief team
as a part of a documentary I was shooting. As time went by, I started shifting focus to the local people of Kathmandu.
Far from the media's attention, men, women, and children who lost everything, worked tirelessly to piece their lives back together. The longer I spent with the Nepalese, I began to see them as heroes, rather than helpless victims.
In the midst of their catastrophic situation, they showed great determination, courage, and hope. I was drawn to these people, and so was my lens.
With the new eyes I received in Nepal, I began to observe and document the local people of every place I visit.
My goal is to continue this project in order to create a portrait of humanity and to shed light on things that matter.''
